Lodge cast iron pans: amazing for at home and on the road
Cooking with a Lodge cast iron pan is simply amazing. As they are produced the pans are treated with vegetable oil based on soya. As a result you end up with a natural non-stick coating. And each time you use a Lodge pan, this non-stick coating will only become better. Whether you use it in the oven, on the stove, or in your campfire. Cast iron retains the heat really well. As such you can quickly end up with crispy vegetables or a nice piece of meat. The pans are made to last a lifetime. During each step of the production process the quality of the pans is checked. Only the best is good enough for Lodge.
About Lodge Cast Iron
Lodge is a real family business. Today the company is run by the fifth generation of Lodges! The factory was founded in 1896 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Lodge can still be found here. Even though the classic techniques of over a hundred years ago are still used today, Lodge is constantly working on updating the production process and making it more environmentally-friendly. New, less polluting melting systems, recycled packaging and biodegradable packing materials. As much as possible is reused.
Cleaning cast iron
You might think that maintaining a cast iron pan is a lot of work. Well, that is not the case at all! The pans are not dishwasher proof, but you can easily clean them with water and a little bit of soap. Dry it afterwards and rub a layer of oil over the surface. And that's it!
